Aug, 17, Doctors4Detroit sends love and support with Ariel
(in yellow sweater, on Judge Claudia Morcom's left side).
Ariel departed for medical studies at
the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba.
We now have FOUR young women studying medicine
 to serve communities in need.

We were honored to have Councilwoman JoAnn Watson with us to meet and hear from Nimeka and Alicia on July 12 -- both just completing their 4th year at Cuba's Latin American School of Medicine -- explain the program and their experiences. There are videos -- not great, but you'll definitely get the message (no roaring bus in the background) -- that I hope to post to very soon of Nimeka and Alicia's wonderful slide presentation. Thank-yous to the Detroit Public Library - Skillman branch downtown and their wonderful staff for the meeting space, Al's Paradise Cafe ( for sandwiches and salad. Alicia's very proud mom and dad were with us, too.

We learned more about the very expensive exam process. Graduation for both Alicia and Nimeka is in 2015 and I think for Samantha, too.

We really miss our beloved Donna Smith who stuck with us throughout her fight with cancer.
